Who these standards apply to

These standards apply to Lovele, the app and the website at lovele.app, developed and operated by ANDIAMO SOFTWARE SRL, a company registered in Romania. They cover every part of Lovele: profiles and profile photos, posts, comments, stories, group chats and private messages, and anything you upload or send.

Zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation

Child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) is prohibited on Lovele, in public and in private, without exception. A child is anyone under 18. In particular, the following are prohibited:

  • Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) of any kind, including photographs, videos, drawings, cartoons, and images that are edited or generated with AI.
  • Grooming: contacting a child, or building their trust, in order to sexually abuse or exploit them.
  • Sextortion: threatening to share intimate images of a child, or using such images to demand more images, money or contact.
  • Sexualising a child in any way, including sexual comments about a child and content that presents a child in a sexual way.
  • Trafficking of children, and offering, advertising or arranging sexual contact with a child.
  • Asking a child for sexual images, sexual conversation or a meeting for sexual purposes.
  • Sharing, requesting or trading such material, linking to it, or telling others where it can be found.
  • Any content that promotes or normalises the sexual abuse of children.

You must be 16 or older

You must be at least 16 years old to use Lovele, and older where the law of your country requires it. We ask for your date of birth when you create an account, and we do not open an account for anyone whose date of birth shows they are under 16. If you believe an account belongs to someone under 16, report the profile and choose the reason about an underage account. A person on our team reviews the report, and accounts we find to be under the minimum age are closed and their data is deleted.

How to report

Every post, comment, story, profile and chat message has a report action. Choose "Child safety" as the reason. Child safety reports go to the front of our review queue immediately and are reviewed by our team within 24 hours. You can also block any account at any time, and blocking works in both directions. The person you report is never told who reported them. You can also report by email to legal@lovele.app, with or without an account. If a child is in immediate danger, contact your local police or emergency number first.

Private messages are end-to-end encrypted

Chat messages on Lovele are end-to-end encrypted. Only the people in a conversation can read them: we cannot read them, and we cannot scan the photos, videos, voice messages or files sent in them. That is why reports matter. When you report a message, your app sends our team a copy of that message from your device, so that we can review it. Only the reported message is shared with us, not the rest of the conversation.

How we detect child sexual abuse material

Photos and videos published on Lovele, meaning profile and group photos, photos and videos in posts, and stories, are checked by Cloudflare's CSAM Scanning Tool, which compares them with hashes of known child sexual abuse material. For a video, the cover image and one frame for each second are checked. This check happens after publication, when the photo or video is first delivered through our network, not before it is published. Reports from the people who use Lovele are the other way we find this material, and our moderators can escalate any reported content as child sexual abuse material.

What we do when we find it

When a match is found, or when a moderator confirms that reported content is child sexual abuse material, the content is removed from public view at once, the files are preserved privately as evidence instead of being deleted, the account is suspended immediately, and an incident is opened for our child safety team. When we confirm child sexual abuse material, our child safety team reports it to the Romanian Police or DIICOT, and to Ora de Net, the reporting hotline run by Salvați Copiii România, a member of INHOPE. The account stays suspended, and we do not reinstate an account involved in confirmed child sexual abuse material.

The law, and working with the authorities

We comply with the child safety laws that apply to us, including the laws of the European Union and Romania. We preserve evidence of child sexual abuse material and report it to the competent authorities, as Romanian law requires, and we cooperate with requests from law enforcement made through the proper legal channels.

Contact

Our child safety point of contact is the Lovele child safety team, at legal@lovele.app. The team monitors this inbox and can answer questions about how we prevent and handle child sexual abuse material. You can also use it to report a concern about the safety of a child on Lovele. For general support, write to contact@lovele.app.
