I forgot my chat passphrase. What now?

We cannot see or reset your chat passphrase, so nobody can open your old messages without it, not you and not us.

You can reset chat and start fresh, from the chat unlock screen or in Settings. You get new keys, your conversations and groups stay, and your friends see that your security code changed. The old messages stay unreadable for good.
