Photos, voice messages and disappearing messages

Photos, videos and voice messages in chat are encrypted like everything else and deleted from our storage 24 hours after you send them, or sooner if the conversation uses a shorter time. The options are 24 hours, 12 hours, 1 hour, 5 minutes, or shortly after everyone has opened it. The time can be made shorter, never longer.

Text messages can disappear too. This is off by default. When it is on, new text messages disappear after 5 minutes, 1 hour, 12 hours or 24 hours, counted from when they are sent. In a one to one chat either of you can change it; in a group, only admins can.

A voice message can be up to 5 minutes long.

A message that has disappeared can no longer be reported, because the text no longer exists on anyone's screen.
