Your devices, linked browsers and recovery key

Every phone and browser you use with Lovele has its own encryption keys, made on that device. They never leave it, and Lovele has no copy.

If you use the app, your phone is your primary device. An account has one phone: signing in on a new phone signs the old one out, and your contacts stop encrypting to it.

To use Lovele in a browser, open lovele.app and scan the QR code it shows with your phone. Your phone adds the browser to your conversations and sends it the last 90 days of text, end-to-end encrypted. Our server passes the transfer on but cannot read it.

An account can have up to 5 devices: your phone and up to 4 linked ones. A linked device that is not used for 30 days is unlinked automatically. Every device on your account is told when a new one is linked, so a QR code scanned by someone else does not go unnoticed. A new device sees the messages sent after it joined, plus the history your phone sends it.

If you don't use the app, your browser can be your primary device. You then get a 24-word recovery key. Write it down and keep it somewhere safe: it is how you restore your account's keys, and Lovele does not have a copy. If it is lost, nobody can restore your keys, not you and not us.

Clearing your browser's data deletes the history stored in that browser. On a web-only account, make sure your recovery key is safe first.
